Congratulations on your upcoming wedding, it’s a pretty exciting time huh?
Capturing someone’s wedding day is an honor I don’t take lightly. I know there are a lot of choices out there, especially in a city as creatively saturated as Seattle so I would first of all like to take the time to thank you for considering me.
I love capturing weddings. A lot of the time when people talk about weddings it’s with dread or sarcasm. How overwhelming they are, how stressful they are, how expensive they are. It’s true, they can be all those things, but they are also magical, exciting and full of love. You didn’t just decide to throw this party to spend a bunch of money, it’s because you want to stand in front of your nearest and dearest and tell them how much you love the person you are marrying. You want to point at them and say “that one? They’re off the market now because they are mine.”
Okay maybe you’ll not say it like that but weddings are about sharing an amazing day with your amazing people and my task in all this is to capture your amazing day for you to cherish forever.
I’ve been capturing weddings since 2016 and I still have the same enthusiasm for it as I did the very first wedding I shot. As cheesy and cliché as it sounds: I love love.
When I sat down to choose my own wedding photographer, I had no idea what I wanted. I didn't know how much I wanted to spend, I didn't know how many hours I would need them for, I didn't know what kind of product I wanted at the end of it.
So when I sat down again to decide what kind of wedding photographer I wanted to be, I thought back to my own. I knew I wanted to be personable. Professional but not uptight, easy going and quick to laugh. I wanted to capture the candid moments, the fleeting smiles and laughs preserved forever. I knew I didn't want to do stuffy posing and rigid stances. And at the end of it, I wanted the couple to have as many photos as possible, no upselling or holding images hostage.
I describe my style as "editorial". I tell the story of your big day. It usually starts with you getting ready and ends on the dance floor. In between mostly varies wedding by wedding but I'll follow you around and capture candids of all the big moments, all the emotions, the tears and the laughter. The big kiss, the first dance, the we-said-we-wouldn't-but-you-just-did cake in face smooshing. The only posing I tend to do is during your family portraits, and that's only so we can make sure to fit as many in as possible.
My goal on your day is to be a stealthbot, you shouldn't notice I'm there but if you call, I'll appear as if out of thin air.
