Peter and Felix brought one hundred percent of their authentic selves to their wedding at Ray’s Boathouse and their friends and family LOVED it.
The day started at the Carl S. English Jr. Botanical gardens for their family photos. The guys showed up wearing gorgeous matching suits in blue and maroon. Once family portraits were done we walked the park ourselves and did some couples portraits, them telling me what they were most excited about for their wedding day.
From there we headed over to the wedding venue, Ray’s Boathouse which sits on the water and offers stunning views out into the Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains. The ceremony site was set up on the dock so everyone could enjoy the view.
When it came time for the ceremony, Peter and Felix were both walked in by their parents, which is such a beautiful thing to see for a queer couple. And these parents weren’t doing it out of duty, you could tell from their faces (and the tears in their eyes) that they were proud to be there.
Peter and Felix chose their friend Paris to officiate for them and they not only did a great job but they looked absolutely stunning doing it. I love when couples have a close friend or family member officiate their wedding, it always feels so much more personal.
After the ceremony we did a quick round of group photos with groups that have been important to Peter and Felix through their lives before everyone sat down for dinner. As the food was cleared, toasts began. Or should I say roasts? Because that’s what Felix’s sister gave him. I’ve never laughed so hard at a wedding toast before. Peter’s sister was much nicer to him and then Felix’s parents stole the show by singing a song to him to express their feelings. There wasn’t a dry eye in that whole wedding reception.
Normally the first dance is my favorite of the wedding dances but in this case, Peter and his sister actually outdid it because they did traditional Irish dancing and it was off the hook! Once they had taken a bow, it was time for the dancefloor to open and Peter and Felix to dance their wedding night away surrounded by family and friends that were so happy to see them married.
