McKenna and James’ engagement session was originally supposed to be on the Sunday evening but I had a cancellation on the Saturday and asked if they’d like to switch. I figured, Saturday’s are more relaxed and further from the start of another work week so it would be more fun.
But in a plot twist, I also had an ulterior motive because Sunday’s are Game of Thrones night and it was a sunset shoot. So when they agreed to switch I was super happy. Turns out: they switched for the same reason I did! Just after I showed up I thanked them for switching and they confessed they were happy because it freed up Thrones night. I knew then we were all gonna get along just fine!
As well as being an engagement session for McKenna and James, this was also a bit of a maternity session as McKenna is 7 months pregnant with her first baby!
I’m by no means a maternity photographer but I tried to get her some decent shots in between capturing them together so that she’ll have a memory of this time once baby is born. And what better place to do maternity photos than at a beautiful park like Dash Point!
Located south of Seattle, just north of Tacoma it’s right by the waterfront and has a gorgeous beach as well as a bunch of trails and grassy areas. Being that it was a Saturday night and a gorgeous sunny evening, we were by no means alone but it didn’t feel crowded and there were a lot of nooks and crannies where we could dip into and feel like we were the only people there.
After spending an evening with McKenna and James I’m super excited to capture their wedding day out east of Seattle at Cabin Creek Lodge in August.
