Summer engagement session at Deception Pass State Park

When I met Lina and Jerrick at Deception Pass State Park for their engagement session, Washington had been experiencing a string of eighty degree days. But the day I met them it was cooler and overcast and I was worried we weren’t going to get good weather. Thankfully my fears were for nothing as Mother Nature pulled it out at the last minute for a beautiful sunset for them.

Deception Pass State Park is one of my favorite locations for an engagement session, because you can have a forest vibe, a water vibe, and a park vibe all in one place. Not only that, you can drive up to it from Seattle through I-5 and then drive back home via Whidbey Island and you get a beautiful round trip drive that has stunning views the whole way.

We walked all over Rosario Beach taking photos and talking about their future wedding plans. Their son was also with us and had just been gifted a point and shoot camera so he was taking some photos too and I tried to give him what advice I could about photography. The funniest part was when he asked us how to turn the screen around to face him and we all got very confused what he meant. Until we realized he was used to the screen on his iPad “turning around” to use the front camera. His mind was blown when we told him he had to physically turn the camera around and point it at himself!

If you’re looking to propose or newly engaged, I’d love to chat with you about doing a photoshoot. Head over to my contact page and let’s chat!
