Way back in 2018 when Carly & Ana hired me to capture their wedding, we met for a consult. At that consult they told me they were going to have their dogs as part of the wedding and I immediately said in my head, these are my people.
Fast forward to a year later and I drove down to Winlock to capture perhaps the most beautiful wedding I shot all year. Carly & Ana chose to have their wedding on Ana’s parents property. When I arrived sight unseen, I thought I’d showed up to the wrong wedding because this had to be an actual wedding venue, and if it wasn’t then it needed to be. I’ve captured weddings at a variety of venues and this one had it all. Greenery, water, fields, long grass, a barn, a tree wall. It was like someone took a Pinterest mood board of wedding venues and made it!
After I had finished fanboying over the venue, I headed to the getting ready house to get some shots of Ana & Carly getting ready. Surrounded by their respective wedding parties they were both laughing away, but you could tell there was a hint of nerves underneath. As of course there should be. Once they were both in their dresses I wrangled them outside for their double first look. Assisted by the bridal party to set them up the two immediately grabbed hands and you could see them practically quivering with excitement to see each other.
On three they turned around and saw their bride for the first time. Tears immediately flowed. First looks are usually my favourite part of the day and this one did not disappoint. After they’d gathered themselves and said hello we wandered around taking some bridal portraits, again did I mention what a stunning venue this is?
Thanks to the first look we were able to do all the family and wedding party photos before the ceremony which was nice because it allowed the two families to come together and gush over the two beautiful brides. After a quick pop back to the house to hideaway and collect themselves, it was time for the ceremony!
Carly & Ana were married on a beautiful dock over water with their family looking on, just as the sun was setting. There were tears, there was laughter and there was lots and lots of love. After the ceremony we went back to the house to sign the marriage license and Ana did a quick costume change and we did a second first look for Carly to see her. After we wandered around the property doing some couple photos before heading back to have them introduced as a brand new married couple!
The night continued with toasts before continuing with a shoe game that was quite contentious! Before things could get too heated with who was a better cook, the first dance was called and then the dancefloor opened to all!
