Late Summer Queer Joy Wedding at Falling Water Gardens, Washington
If there is one word I could come up with to summarize Akela and Billie’s late summer wedding at Falling Water Gardens, it would be joyful. The whole day these two beauties were smiling and giggling and screaming with laughter. They were giddy in love like it was a potion.
This wedding took place the day after Franklin & Nick’s beautiful queer wedding so it was wonderful to continue that theme.
The day started with them getting ready in the two seperate, giant tents on site at Falling Water Gardens. They are available as glamping tents to stay at the night before or of your wedding which is a nice touch.
Once they were both dressed we headed over to the “maze” for their first look. After seeing each other they read personal vows to each other that were just for them. Before the wedding ceremony we wandered around the garden a bit taking some couples portraits before heading back to the tents for some touch ups and then it was ceremony time!
The ceremony was officiated by their long time theatre friend who is the reason they first met, a nice personal touch I thought. After saying I Do they practically floated back down the aisle they seemed so happy!
A quick round of wedding party and family photos and then perhaps my favorite photos of the day, both of the marriers with their wedding party surrounding them with their bouquets. It’s a photo I’d seen around on social media and I knew it would work great with the burst of color and their smiling faces.
A quick entrance to the reception and then it was time for pizza! Any wedding that serves pizza is a-okay in my book. Top it off with a macaron tower and I am practically asking to be a third wheel in the marriage full time!
The people who got up to speak to these two gave such heartfelt, emotional toasts to them and the wonderful people they are. Once eyes had been dried it was time for their first dance set to an acoustic cover of Simply The Best. Then for their first group dance, it was the Time Warp, fitting I think for a group of theatre kids!
While their guests danced we skipped away for these two to change into their evening wear and do another quick round of photos before I headed off to let them party away into the sunset.
