A few months ago I was mindlessly scrolling through Facebook when a post by The Seattle Barkery stopped me in my tracks. It was a photo of two dogs staring at a pupcake.
The photo was cute, but it was the story behind it that had me bawling at my keyboard.
I lost a young dog at the end of 2016 and I have no photos of the two of us together, so whenever I hear about these kinds of situations I try my best to gift a session to them in Kirby’s honor. Thankfully through the power of social media I was able to connect with Jewel, Bane’s mom, and get a session set up at a local park.
When the day came, the day after Memorial Sunday of all days, I was a nervous wreck because I wanted to give these people images they would cherish but I was scared my emotions would get the better of me. Thankfully I was able to power through with only a couple tears shed and getting to spend time with Bane and see his bond with his family was amazing.
