Picnic Point Engagement Session // Kayla & Tanner
After working two solid weeks at my “day job”, scheduling an engagement session at 7am on the first day you can sleep in seems crazy, but I knew the light would be perfect so I bit the bullet and set my alarm for 6am. Thankfully I have copious amounts of coffee in my house to rely upon.
And I was right to because the light WAS perfect for Kayla & Tanner’s engagement session. I’d been to Picnic Point a week earlier for a shoot with the wonderful Plus Size Pioneer and the sun had just been peeking over the treetops as we were finishing up so I knew 7am was a good start time.
Unfortunately this weekend was a bit cloudier so we didn’t get the sunbursts but we got the mood. We started out on the beach, which being a beach in the Pacific Northwest was a little windy and chilly. It wasn’t ideal for Kayla’s first outfit but thankfully Tanner was there to keep her warm.
After they changed into their sportier, more casual second outfit, Kayla asked if they could climb the tree near us. I told them absolutely, as long as I wasn’t held liable for any injuries. Thankfully the two of them are great climbers and managed to get up to, stay in, and climb down from, the tree without injury. And we ended up with some unique photos for our troubles!
To finish we headed over to a grassy knoll and I had them practice some spins for their first dance. And what engagement session wouldn’t be complete without a piggyback ride and some buckaroo?
Thank you Kayla & Tanner for sacrificing your Saturday morning lie-in to spend some time letting me get to know you guys. I’m super excited for their wedding this Fall at Stilly Brook Farm, just a couple hours north of Seattle near Arlington.
