Bobbi and Marcela’s joy-filled LGBTQ+ wedding at Salty’s on Alki Beach in West Seattle was one of my favorite weddings from last summer. As a Seattle wedding photographer, I love capturing celebrations full of love, personality, and stunning backdrops—and this Salty’s wedding had it all!

From my first time meeting Bobbi and Marcela for their consult I knew they were going to be a blast to work with. They only further confirmed that initial feeling during their engagement session at Lincoln Park in West Seattle.

So by the time their Seattle wedding rolled around at the end of July I was super excited to spend the day with them! We started off their wedding day with a first look on the beach with a backdrop of the Seattle waterfront skyline behind them. Bobbi was dressed in a beautiful green suit with floral accents on her tie and pocket square while Marcela wore a stunning mermaid style dress with a half veil.

Just as they did their first look the Seattle Water Taxi was leaving the dock and everyone on board cheered for them, it was a very cute moment.

From there we walked along the waterfront to Salty’s to meet their wedding parties, well most of them. One person was late because they got into a car accident. Yes that’s right, they got into a car accident and still came to their bestie’s wedding. If that isn’t love, I don’t know what is.

After getting inside it was time for the wedding ceremony out on the deck at the back of Salty’s. It’s become one of my favorite wedding ceremony sites because it gives you such a beautiful view of the Seattle skyline. Bobbi and Marcela’s wedding ceremony was short but extremely sweet. It was officiated by their good friend Jason who had clearly put a lot of love and effort into writing a ceremony speech that was personal to the brides. Both sets of parents were present and Bobbi’s parents offered a spoken blessing while Marcela’s parents offered a lasso wedding blessing.

But personally I think they were outdone by Marcela’s uncle who gave a tearful blessing that had the entire audience reaching for tissues! Even when he sat back down, he was still looking at them with tears in his eyes and was clearly so happy for his nieces on their wedding day.

After sealing their vows with a first kiss, Bobbi and Marcela were married!

We had some quick family portraits to do and then it was time to party! Normally I recommend couples to go with a DJ or MC but Bobbi’s playlist skills were on point. If I didn’t know what she did for a living I might have suspected she was moonlighting as a DJ.

During dinner I was given a seat at a table which is always such a lovely gesture because I get to talk to people who are here to celebrate my couple and they always have such nice things to say about them. After dinner concluded each of the brides brothers gave a heartfelt toast about them and wished them well in their marriage. It’s always so wonderful to be at a LGBTQ+ wedding where all the family shows up to support the couple.

Before the dances I quickly took the brides outside to get some golden hour photos before the sun went down. We didn’t have to go far thankfully as there’s some lovely grassy, tree covered areas right outside Salty’s and then the dock is there for the Seattle skyline photos too.

Once we were back inside the brides did their first dance as wives, and then did the traditional father-daughter dance before opening up the dancefloor to all their friends to dance the night away with them!
